Three weeks ago, all 4 of my wisdom teeth were removed. I am starting to notice that many of my bottom teeth are sensitive to cold. Should I be concerned? – Victor

Victor – At times, when wisdom teeth are removed, teeth in front of it become sensitive to cold or air. The sensitivity is more common on the upper teeth than the lower teeth. When the wisdom tooth is removed, the root surface of the tooth next to it can be exposed and become sensitive. The tooth can be brushed with toothpaste made for sensitive teeth. If you don’t get relief, your dentist can give you a desensitizing treatment.

The sensitivity should only affect the tooth next to the removed wisdom tooth, although it may feel like other teeth are affected. It is best to have your dentist examine your teeth to ensure that there are no other issues.
